Thrift Store Desk... Redone

The House on Red Hill knows that a little paint and ingenuity can go a long way towards taking something from trash to treasure.

The DIY'ers start with a battered thrift store desk and, after some repairs, a coat of paint, new hardware, and (can you believe it?) a two dollar placemat, they have an awesome updated piece of furniture.

I know I don't say this often enough, but that placemat totally makes the desk!

Oh, and making a template before you cut... such a good idea for people who have little patience for detailed measurements (like me!).

Check out the full how-to on The House on Red Hill.

Very cool, definitely a creative use for a placemat! I also love the paint color - why can't I be that good at choosing colors?
